Slow Cooker Beef Teriyaki Stew

We have two slow cookers and continue to look for new recipes. This one came from a Taste of Home Contest Winner cookbook that we received as a door prize when we signed up as new members of Costco last winter. The above picture is a scan from the cookbook and the original recipe was by Leslie Simms.

Ingredients:
2 pounds of stew meat
1 bottle (12 oz) ginger beer or 1 can (12 oz) ginger ale
¼ cup teriyaki sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbs sesame seeds
2 tbs cornstarch
2 tbs cold water
2 cups frozen peas, thawed
Hot cooked rice or noodles

Cooking Instructions:
  1. In a large nonstick skillet, brown beef (in batches if necessary). Transfer to a 3 quart slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the ginger beer, teriyaki sauce, garlic and sesame seeds; pour over beef. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender.
  3. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into the stew. Stir in the peas. Cover and cook an additional hour until the gravy is thickened. Serve with rice or noodles.
