6-27 Bathroom

OK...It is not my bathroom. And. It is not real. And. It is better around St. Patrick's Day than the 4th of July. But it is funny and I like it.

6-25 Cute

OK...So none of the males in this picture are cute. But this was the first time we went to a UofU football game and we were pretty excited. It took a bit for Melissa to get the picture right, but we think this one was the best. I love the under eye stickers we found at Dick's Sporting Goods. We watched the Utes play against Arizona State...I think we lost. Who cares. We oozed testosterone and had man fun.

6-23 Motion

OK...So the picture doesn't really show motion, but the two mascots, Bumble and Therm, almost caused motion...The motion of leaving the game. Not so much Bumble, but Therm, that is one creepy looking mascot. We were given tickets to the game tonight, that the Bees promptly decided they didn't want to win. They got a great run in the bottom of the 1st inning, but gave up three in the second. The third they came back and scored two, tying the game at three. the next inning they had two outs and the pitcher pitched himself into a corner putting three men on base then giving up a grand slam home run. At that point, the game was pretty much over. Ashton had to work, so we left in the top of the eighth inning and the Bees were trailing 9-4. If I missed a great comeback, oh well. But I think that we missed nothing.

6-20 Favorite Picture

None of the pictures on this page were taken by me, but I am a subject in one. This is from an article in All Hands, a magazine that was published while I was in the US Navy between 1979 and 1986. These pictures were taken and the article was written in 1982 while NMCB-3 was deployed to Camp Shields in Okinawa. Near the end, we were hosts for the Pearl S. Buck Foundation. We threw a party, bar-b-que and had an overall good time with these Amerasian children. It took me a while to find this article and I am glad that I did. I was very proud of my battalion and the US Navy to do such a great act of charity for these children.

6-18 Something We Don't Know About You

In 1987 I was bored and wanted to learn something new. I chose scuba diving. I took all of the lessons, both classroom and pool. I went to Lake Powell and got my Open Water Certification. Then I went to Bear Lake and got my Advanced Open Water Certification. Believe it or not, that was the last scuba dive I did. Never pursued it again. Wish I would have but that is an expensive sport and I couldn't travel because I didn't have the money. So I spent time and money for something I never pursued.

6-17 What's In The Bag

Today is Father's Day. At church the Primary gave fathers treats...My choice M&Ms. Then each of the Primary children made ties to give to their dad...Trail Mix. I love them both and I love being a dad. Thanks Melissa for making me a dad.

Steel Curtain Rising: Tomczak to be Pittsburgh (Power) Offensive Coordinator

Steel Curtain Rising: Tomczak to be Pittsburgh (Power) Offensive Coordinator

I remember Mike Tomczak and was glad to have him as the back up for Neil O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart.  I, too, thought he would end up as a coach and I am glad that the Pittsburgh Power will have him.  Maybe he can be a head coach some day.

6-16 Out and About

Today we took a little time to replace rose bushes that we planted last year but didn't survive the winter. We got two different varieties; Mellow Yellow and Pumpkin Patch. I really think the Pumpkin Patch is going to be a beautiful choice. The brightness of the Mellow Yellow stood out at J&J Nursery so we chose that one. But after looking over all of the other available bushes, I am happy that we got Pumpkin Patch.

6-15 Picture - Yellow

July 2010 we were invited by Melissa's sister, Lindsey, and her husband Marc to enjoy a family reunion at his family's ranch in Montana. What a great week we had. We did some horse riding, fishing, and the kids even got to ride and drive ATVs. Ashton, Jaxon and Seattle were on this yellow ATV having a great time just going around the compound.

6/12/2012 - Low Angle

Coda. Ashton picked up Coda for free on a night drive to Duchesne. He has been a great addition to the family...except for last week when Venus was in heat. He lost weight, and did nothing but follow around Venus. Inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs...what a pain. But we love him anyway.

June 11 Photo - Door

Sorry this is a day late. June 11 is supposed to show a door. Well, here it is. This is the door for Jean Brown Research. Ashton had his wisdom teeth removed on 6/11. I dropped him off at 6:00 am and didn't see him again until 11:25 pm. What a day for him. It was finally after 12:40 when we got home after picking up his medication. I feel sorry for him, but he got his teeth out for free and no hit to my insurance. Get well soon Ashton.

On 6-10 I am adding a picture that I wish I didn't have to add. Ashton was on his way home from a camping trip to City of Rocks/Craters of the Moon when a wind gust blew him off of the road. When he over corrected he ended up in the median and we ended up without a car. Ashton and his passengers were wearing seatbelts and all walked away. I guess this is the best bit of the weekend. Cars can be replaced...Life cannot.

6-9 My View

On June 9 I am posting a picture of "My View". A craft project inspired by a Pinterest. I am an American through and through. As a child of the 60's I lived through a lot of things. I remember watching television when JFK was assassinated and my mother crying. I remember living in Pennsylvania with my grandparents while my dad gone for a year in Viet Nam. I remember my father one evening watching the moon with his binoculars. He looked at me and said, "I just saw Michael Collins move across the moon. At the time, I wondered who Michael Collins was, and why was he on the moon. Later, I knew exactly who Michael Collins and his two companions were. I remember living in the United Kingdom for three years, a young ambassador for the United States while my dad was stationed there. In 1979, I graduated from high school and ten days later, June 4, 1979, I was standing tall in basic training for the United States Navy in San Diego. I met President Ronald Reagan at his ranch in Santa Barbara in 1981 before being deployed to Okinawa for more than nine months. Upon my return from Okinawa, I went to school at Fort Belvoir, Virginia for 52 weeks. During that time, I visited Washington, D.C. many times including Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Marine Corps Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and on July 4, 1983 I sat on the lawn of the Capitol Building and listened to the National Symphony play historical marches and music while fireworks exploded over the Mall. I have many great memories of this great country and many of it's people. I love my country and this little craft project helps me remember...I am an American...Through and through.
